Soda Product Design

June 2025
Overview
Chirpify was a self-initiated packaging project I created during a university break because I wanted to experiment with product design again.
I created a strawberry-flavoured soda and a no-sugar version, then developed supporting promotional advertising around the product.
Problem
The main design challenge was distinguishing the regular and no-sugar products without losing the connection between them.
I also wanted the packaging to be simple enough to recognise quickly while still having enough personality to stand out against other brightly coloured soft drinks.
Solution
I created a very stripped-back can design using bubbles as the main graphic device.
The standard strawberry version uses a strong red-pink colour, while the no-sugar version shifts almost completely to black. The same white Chirpify script and bubble motif connects both products.
The simplicity also made it easy to carry the identity into advertising, including the large-format strawberry soda billboard.
Reflection
Because this was not an assessment, I approached it differently.
There was less pressure to prove a particular process, so I could simply experiment with a type of design I enjoyed.
The project made me even more interested in packaging, but it also showed me how much I enjoy seeing packaging grow into a wider campaign. If I developed Chirpify now, I would expand the flavour range and build a stronger tone of voice and launch campaign around it.
