Mix Master Project - Vienna (Austria)
November 2025

Overview

Mix Master was an interactive drink-making experience created in Scratch and presented as a physical installation.

Users first selected whether they wanted a fruity, herbal or refreshing drink, then chose three ingredients. Their combination would lead to one of 12 possible digital cocktail outcomes.

I also created a printed menu in Figma showing the different drinks, included a scan-based digital element, and offered small non-alcoholic drink samples alongside the game.

Problem

The challenge was making the experience feel like more than a basic selection game.

Scratch has fairly simple capabilities compared with more advanced interactive software, so I needed to create enough variety and personalisation without making the interaction too complicated.

I also wanted the project to feel like part of the exhibition space rather than something that only existed on a screen.

Solution

I structured the interaction as a short decision-making journey.

Rather than immediately showing users a drink, Mix Master asks them to choose the kind of drink they want first, then build it by selecting ingredients. The different combinations lead to outcomes such as Berry Sunset, Island Melody, Citrus Drift and Cucumber Zen.

I used a consistent dark brown and warm orange visual style across the interface, icons and printed menu so the digital and physical pieces still felt connected.

The drink samples added another sensory layer. Once someone finished creating their digital drink, they could also taste something instead of the experience ending at the screen.

Reflection

This project changed the way I thought about digital design because I had to consider the whole experience around the screen, not just what happened inside it.

I particularly liked combining interaction design, printed material and taste in the one project.

The biggest limitation was the physical setup. I did not have a proper table allocated, so I had to adapt the display using the stand and stool that were available. If I developed the project again, I would create a more considered setup, push the scan or AR element further and connect the physical drink samples more closely to the result generated on screen.
